A crazy idea

A friend of mine has suggested that I write up my story for a magazine and sell it. Or try to sell it. I guess the woman's magazines are into these kinds of story. The story that I have. Now, I'll admit, it would seem egotistical to me to write this up and try to sell it. It just seems strange.

Another friend suggested I do it as a book.

I had never thought of it until she suggested it, but I'll admit I am kind of curious about it. I don't want to just regurgitate what I've written here, so it would be a challenge. So I was wondering what you all think about it.

Is it too egotistical?

Would it be worth reading?

Would anyone care?

Could I make any money off of it?

What tone would I take with it?

How much information would I put in?

Should I even do it?

Let me know what you all think? After all, you'll be the ones doing the proofreading.

I keep reading. I keep caring.

Can you make any money off of it? I guess it depends if a magazine takes it. If they do, go for it. Money is money, and I'm sure you'd gain several new fans.

And yes, I'll proofread, but I get picky about spelling and punctuation. :)

Someone has to proof it for me. I used to be able to spell before computers, now I can't remember basic words anymore.

The problem now, actually, is finding time. Writing two blogs, a weekly column, working full-time and umpiring every weekend (plus what little time I get with Neeve) is keeping me busy right now.

Hmmm...What's your rationale behind this? Ron, your story is amazing. All the things you've done for Neeve, I really admire you. But I dont think this is a good idea to publish it. At least at this stage. Sorry. I will try to explain my point of view:
1. You will have to start from the beginning...How you met, how and why you broke up. All that kind of stuff. Are you ready and willing to share that?
2. Your ex will read the story. She will be mad. What if she tells it to the Family Services guy? How is he gonna look at it?
3. She might tell her "part of the story". Can she tell something you dont wanna hear?
4. What benefit you expect by telling the story?
Please dont get me wrong...Im on your side, but I just dont want you to jeopardize what you have accomplished.

Ingrida,

Good questions all.

1. You will have to start from the beginning...How you met, how and why you broke up. All that kind of stuff. Are you ready and willing to share that?

Not entirely, which is a problem, but I could do it.

2. Your ex will read the story. She will be mad. What if she tells it to the Family Services guy? How is he gonna look at it?

That's the big issue right there.

3. She might tell her "part of the story". Can she tell something you dont wanna hear?

Okay with me. Then maybe I'll know what her part is. Because right now I don't.

4. What benefit you expect by telling the story?

That's a good question. I don't know. Giving Neeve my side of the story? Providing money for her?

Please dont get me wrong...Im on your side, but I just dont want you to jeopardize what you have accomplished.

These are the things I need to hear. Both sides, the good, the bad, and the ugly. I have to think about this a lot.

I read this a couple of times now and I am still thinking about it. I don't think you should. At least not now. Maybe later, when you've got some hindsight and you know how things pan out in the end. You could probably write some stuff to magazines to prove that fathers do care and international relationships are always a mess when they break up and kids are involved. I kind of thinking in the sense of encouraging other fathers out there to not give up on their children just because the mother is uncooperative.

Ok, I sound confused. Don't mind me. :-)

You might be right. I haven't thought about it a whole lot lately.

I don't really have the time to do it.

Mabye in the future, I'll sit down and write it out, and have it ready if it's the right time to do it.

Or not. I don't know. It's kind of hard doing this, let alone something more in-depth and personal.
