A crazy idea

I kind of like the stuff I'm doing now, as far as looking at baseball from an international view. I know its nothing very exciting, but some of it is interesting, some of it is off the wall, and some of it its entertaining.

Mostly, it gives me something to do while I'm not working, lets me practice my writing (which always needs work), and gives me a chance to spout off about whatever the hell I feel like spouting off about.

So I'm thinking of branching out and starting a new blog covering baseball from an international side. I'm not 100% yet, because I don't want to get started and then find I don't have the time to do it, or can't really find enough to make it worthwhile. So I'll give it to the end of the year and see what happens. If I do start working, that will obviously weigh in on the decision.

I will still keep this going however, with the personal stuff I've written about in the past. That's for me, because its good therapy to write it down, and a good record of events right now. And some people are interested.

But first things first. If I'm actually going to do this, I'll need a new title for the new blog. Or keep this title and move the personal stuff to something else. Here are a few suggestions. Much like in Chicago, you can vote for more than one, and more than once. If anyone has any good write-in suggestions, please let me know, and full credit will be given.

I like your current title, but I voted for "Road Games" because then we can make all kinds of split jokes. ;-)

I guess, sub-consciously, that's why it was the first new choice.

But I'm curious how My Balls Don't Bounce finishes, and what the write-ins will be.

Also, what do you think of the idea?

And I'll have an update about Neeve by Wednesday, if not sooner.

I think the international baseball stuff you've been doing is cool, because it paradoxically helps us appreciate both how unique and how universal our game is.

I always like the double-meaning of "Baseball Over Here", which I voted for along with My Balls Don't Bounce. Of course, that vote was for the "huh, huh" factor more than anything. I know very little about the stuff you've been covering, but it's definitely a unique niche, something that nobody else really covers. Good stuff. Also, it gives you an opportunity to cool off from the absurdity of the Royals for a little while...

By the way, thank God the Greinke for Francouer rumors were shot down. I would have quit rooting for the Royals if something that stupid were to happen.

Nick,

I like both your choices for the same reason. I wouldn't expect this to be some great blog that everyone comes to every day. More just for me to practice my writing and if someone learns something new, even better.

Did you see the news about Farnsworth. I'm dying, man, I'm dying.

And Joe Po's column about Hillman.

We used to be somebody.

I'm not sure what the strategy is with Farnsworth. The one thing Moore has been able to do consistently is build the pitching staff (bullpen, specifically) out of retreads without sinking a ton of money into it. Why we would pay Farnsworth, who has been mediocre and overpaid, I don't know.

I liked JoPo's article. I've been willing to give Hillman the benefit of the doubt and that article gives me hope that I made the right decision. Of course, the best manager in the world still needs good players...
